When will this technology be in use at Michigan Central?

Start date: Spring 2024. End date: December 2025.

The technology will be “always on”, responsible for executing various campus-wide smart charge management strategies selected appropriately based on current/changing conditions in the environment and energy market.

Where will this technology be used or implemented?

Liberas’ solution will be in use to optimize EV charging and energy resources throughout the Michigan Central campus, including at facilities like the Bagley Mobility Hub, the book depository, Michigan Central Station, and others. In parallel, our solution is being piloted with utilities and other ecosystem partners across a variety of sites in Southern Michigan.

What might happen when this pilot is over?

Liberas anticipates leaving the solutions we’re piloting in-place for transition to commercial use at Michigan Central under a discounted commercial license agreement. Our team will continue to deploy the solution throughout Southern Michigan to manage commercial charging operations and distributed energy resource fleets as new energy market and utility incentive programs, shaped by our team and others, are approved by regulators and made widely accessible to ratepayers in Michigan.

When and where will results and learnings from this pilot be available?

Results and learnings from this pilot will be published towards and following the conclusion of the pilot, between September 2025 - March 2026. Appropriate data will be made available at major industry conferences, and in public online repositories that will be shared with Michigan Central for further dissemination to the readers/public once available.
